Pituitary disorders occur when the pituitary gland, which is responsible for releasing eight different hormones, makes too much or too little of one or more hormones.

Each hormone plays a role in how your body functions. These hormones are responsible for a number functions including stimulating bone growth to controlling metabolisms. Pituitary disorders often develop slowly. It may take some time until symptoms are noticeable, and many symptoms are similar to other diseases leasing to misdiagnoses.
