Cushing’s syndrome, also known as hypercortisolism, is a hormonal disorder caused by high levels of the hormone cortisol. Cushing’s syndrome can happen when there’s too much cortisol in your body for too long.Cortisol comes from your adrenal glands and it helps your body maintain blood pressure, regulate blood sugar, and lower inflammation.
Most cases of Cushing’s syndrome can be cured, it may take some time for symptoms to subside. It is more common in women than in men, and more often seen in people ages 25-40.
